The Poobley Greegy Puppet Theatre toured New England elementary schools and libraries, performing on a multitasking stage with puppets, wands, shadows and chords to 30,000 people each year. Suzanne Pemsler sang opera and art songs live, manipulating life-size dolls in her popular PUPPET DIVAS performance for children, adults and audiences of different generations.
Marionettes work because they have limbs with balled joints and strings attached. This means that they possess several points of articulation and can be moved about more gracefully than most other puppets. The strings are pulled in order to manipulate the limbs.

In China, small rope puppets are controlled by a racket-shaped lever to which all the strings are attached. Pelham’s Puppets is a commercially produced British puppet that usually has seven strings attached to its legs, arms, head, and back. Burmese puppets are very sophisticated and skillful as they use 18 (for male characters) or 19 (for female) strings, each puppet is controlled by only one puppeteer.
